“ Absolutely wonderful family meal for Easter. All the staff are incredibly kind, especially Amy who was really lovely with my elderly father. The food was just delicious and fresh and we loved the ambiance too. ”
“ Really good breakfast. Sausage excellent, bacon crispy (if you don't like it well done then I'd ask your server) Beans are the only thing I'd like different, guess I'm partial to a can rather than these fancy homemade baked beans. Focaccia toast on the plate was actually good and crispy, unlike some places. Everything was actually hot too, so that's always a plus Maple syrup and bacon pancakes were also good, plenty of syrup too. Service was quick and efficient for a Saturday morning, and the place has a really good atmosphere. Card only, no cash, so be prepared for those of you who are cash only. Dog friendly ”
“ A truly wonderful experience. Food is delicious, you can tell they use fresh and local ingredients. Staff are friendly, attentive but without being overbearing. You have to be careful with parking as it’s just few dedicated spaces, you might get a fine if park in reserved ones. ”
“ Heard good things about the Old Liquor Store, so visited for a birthday Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The main course was delicious and well presented, and the chocolate orange pud was excellent, the chefs clearly take pride in their work. The decor and vibe provide a stylish and relaxed atmosphere. A great place to eat. ”
“ We visited yesterday with our grandson. The staff and service were excellent. The food was absolutely delicious. Being situated in the old Terry's chocolate factory really added to the ambience. Well worth a visit! (I need a special mention to the car park attendant, I forgot yo enter car details electronically when I arrived and he came in to double check that we were in the restaurant. A big thankyou! ) ”
“ A lovely, utilitarian space, which creates a cool ambience. Service was friendly and attentive. Tried an excellent bottle of Slovenian Merlot. The wine selection is super and reasonably priced. We went for Sunday lunch, for us, the best in York. Tender beef, roast carrots and parsnips, fluffy Yorkshire puddings and well roasted potatoes. Not forgetting the dreamy cauliflower cheese as an included side. I had the chocolate marquise desert, which was light and rich, enhanced with popcorn. We will undoubtedly return. ”
“ We had an amazing experience! The staff are brilliant, really attentive. The chocolate negroni and French 75 were both great. The food was stunning though!! We had the focaccia with carbonara butter and the courgette fritter (which can’t be missed). We then had the lamb shoulder pasta which was one of the best we’ve had outside of Rome. The fried chicken was lovely but a bit too lemony. The desserts were brilliant, the chocolate cannoli-inspired one was one of our favourites of the night. The limoncello trifle was great but needed less gelatin and more limoncello. Apart from this we couldn’t fault it! Great experience, we will be back! ”
“ Incredible food, really friendly staff and great value - definitely worth a visit to the old liquor store. The beef rib was the pick of the dishes in my opinion. Highly recommend!! ”
